  • Overview

    The Medial Staff Credentialing Coordinator – HealthEast/East Region (HealthEast) oversees the daily operation of the credentialing activities for HealthEast Medical Staff Office (MSO).  Coordinates site specific credentialing processes, regulatory compliance for the medical staff, the orientation program and educational requirements for new medical and allied health staff appointees, and serves as the liaison of hospital services to the medical staff.  Provides administrative support for the System Director, and other medical staff leadership.  Helps support annual meetings, leadership training, dues, elections, social functions and special projects for the Medical Staff. 


    • Manages the credentialing processes for all medical staff within the HealthEast Medical Staff Office (MSO)
    • Specifically, reviewing of all applications and assessing for compliance with established criteria and partnering with clinical leaders to facilitate the approval process
    • Oversees the core daily credentialing activities of the MSO including the HealthEast Credentialing Committee and the Observational/Educational experience process
    • Participates in the daily activities of the HealthEast MSO
    • Participates in Fairview System Credentialing Office monthly meetings
    • Ensures medical staff regulatory compliance with Joint
    • Commission and NCQAA guidelines
    • Partners with the Practitioner Evaluation (Peer Review) Office to facilitate the Ongoing Professional Practitioner Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Peer Review process
    • Exhibits excellent customer relations with medical staff with patients/clients, visitor, coworkers, community and referral sources, so that HealthEast is known for service excellence
    • Communicates appropriate information with others according to established procedures so that day-to-day operations are effectively conducted
    • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
    • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
    • Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned


    • Preferred membership in MAMSS (Minnesota Association of Medical Staff Services) or NAMSS (National Association in Medical Staff Services)
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Minimum of 5-10 years related experience in the credentialing and medical field
    • Knowledge of medical terminology required
    • Strong computer skills requested with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word Word processing experience and computer experience required
    • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality of all information

    • Medical Terminology/Spelling: Familiar with medical terminology and medical spelling

    • Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; utilizes appropriate tools and staff resources along with sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
    • Written Communication: Ability to organize and express information and ideas in written form to individuals as well as groups
    • Construct messages that are clear and convincing
